Creation & Destruction:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I have said numerous times before, and I will continue to thus say it...Miles is a very respected Sith within the community, and while he shares a more 'balanced' view when it comes to things (most would call him a Light Sith), this does not change the fact that he is indeed intelligent, and often makes one think, and he brings about important points of discussion in several different forums.
One of the things he brought to my attention was a discussion on Creation and Destruction. He had run across a journal entry by Darth Reptitious, part of which read (quote):
"Creation and destruction are the same process. You cannot have one without the other. The process known as Metamorphosis perfectly illustrates this point because it destroys (the old) and creates (the new) simultaneously. To infer that someone can only destroy or create without taking into account the above process is self limiting. A more important thing to consider is to ask yourself why you think in this way?"
To which Miles then replies (quote):
Just like with all questions of this nature, where one person has an answer, another person has a question, this only leads to more and more questions in turn, thus the wheel is always spinning. This is a good thing however, because it leads to growth, as stagnation in thought is the death of it...a weakness, and considered the ultimate sin which is ignorance.
Still...back on topic.
Just as Darkness is individual for everyone, so are our ideas on life and death, creation, destruction, empowerment and passion. I cannot tell you what to think on this matter, nor can anyone else. It is your experiences alone which shape your own world, your own path, your ultimate destiny and truth. So while Reptitious and Miles had their own views on this, I also had mine as well:
Lets take creation and destruction and put them into a more simple process.
Think of birth and death.
If everything was born and yet nothing was ever dying, then the planet would be overrun and would eventually tear itself apart. In fact, destruction would be inevitable, brought about by this endless "creation" or "birth" and therefore is something that creation cannot exist without. But with death it is a bit different. If everything died and yet nothing was born, then that would be all...there would be nothingness. Destruction brings with it more destruction, then stagnation, and then silence. But in a sense they would need each other because death cannot keep happening without birth, so creation would have to be present in order to have an endless cycle. So it is very weird. I just can't seem to wrap my head around this question as there are just so many ways to put it. But can they be the same process?
No...
I agree with others that have said that were they to be the same thing then they would not be defined as two separate entities but as a singular process which embodies both.
But what do you think?

"I can imagine creation without destruction as I can imagine spontaneous creation, which I consider the spark of divinty with each. I can imagine destruction without creation as I can envision the end result of entropy. I also see how these can be reconsidered to be a discussion of transition, and as transition is, by it's implication a movement from one form to another, it can be said to be a destruction and a creation at once.
Yet are they the same process? Like darkness unto light, is there not a destruction independent of creation and a creation independent of destruction? Is there a nuance of language yet again tripping up the essence of the discussion? Or is it just a limitation of thinking, a blockage of thought process that leads one down the rabbit hole of illusion?
Or is there something more, something else, revealed in the mixture to show that the whole discussion of creation and destruction is nothing more than a ruse, a distraction ... and something else entirely is what we should be looking at?
I ask because I spend enough time in my journal musing in my own mind. I like it when others inspire me and I don't want to lock that away to journals on this one."

Discussion points:
1. Define what Creation and Destruction mean to you. How do you define them?
2. Is Creation and Destruction the same process? Why/Why not?
3. Can one process exist without the other? Why/Why not?
Discussion points can be posted in the Sith Discussion forum or posted in a Holocron entry.
